Samira Ochs is a Researcher and doctoral student at the Leibniz Institute for the German Language (IDS) in Mannheim, focusing on Gender and Queer Linguistics. She holds an MA in Linguistics from the University of Freiburg (2022) and a BA in Applied Intercultural Linguistics from the University of Augsburg (2017). Her roles include Research Assistant in the Empirical Gender Linguistics project and the third-party funded GENELLI initiative. She is also a member of the DFG Queerlinguistics Network (since 2025) and the IDS's MAus Committee.
Her research interests revolve around Gender Linguistics, Queer Linguistics, Corpus Linguistics, Empirical Methods, Word Formation, and Typology. She has organized events like the GAL Research School (2023) and contributed to projects such as the Queer Corpus (QK) and Leipzig Corpus analysis. She has conducted studies on gender-inclusive language in political and corporate contexts, lexical innovations in German, and historical discourse.
Her recent work explores sociolinguistic shifts in parliamentary language, gender symbols in public texts, and the impact of social norms on linguistic change. She collaborates internationally, including with Moscow's linguistic institutions, and her contributions span academic journals and conference reports.
