Annette Trabold

Annette Trabold is a long-standing research associate at the Leibniz Institute for the German Language (IDS) in Mannheim since 1992. She holds a PhD in German Studies and Political Science (University of Heidelberg, 1992) and has served as Head of Public Relations and Documentation at IDS since October 1994. Her work focuses on questions of linguistic culture, language criticism, and public sphere dynamics, including unconventional explorations like the linguistic capabilities of a dog. She has contributed to editorial leadership (SPRACHREPORT, IDS newsletter) and organized exhibitions, conferences, and guest programs.

Her research interests center on language policy, public linguistic norms, and institutional communication. Her publications highlight IDS’s role in language research, language policy handbooks, and public engagement strategies.
