Carole Nasra is an Associate Professor of Instruction in French and Language Placement Coordinator for French at the University of Rochester's Department of Modern Languages and Cultures within the School of Arts & Sciences. She holds a BA in Modern Languages (Arabic, French, and English) and an MA in Translation from Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut, where her thesis focused on translating excerpts from Gérard de Nerval's Voyage en Orient.
Her teaching emphasizes comprehensive language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) alongside cultural immersion in Francophone regions through music, cinema, cuisine, and traditions. She coordinates the University of Rochester's chapter of PI Delta Phi, the National French Honor Society, chartered in 2019.
Prior to Rochester, Nasra taught conversational French at Syracuse University, served as an adjunct lecturer at Rochester Institute of Technology, and worked as an interpreter/translator for various agencies. She currently teaches courses including FR 101 (Elementary French I), FR 102 (Elementary French II), and FR 153 (Intermediate French).
