Carole Collet

Carole Collet is a Professor in Design for Sustainable Futures at the University of the Arts London (UAL), specifically attached to the Jewellery, Textiles and Materials programme at Central Saint Martins. She holds dual leadership roles as Director of Maison/0, a LVMH-UAL initiative for regenerative luxury, and co-Director of the Living Systems Lab, a research group exploring biodesign and ecological futures. Her work focuses on regenerative design, biodesign, and multi-species futures, addressing planetary boundaries and the biodiversity crisis through interdisciplinary collaboration. She has pioneered curricula such as the MA Biodesign (launched 2019) and the MA Material Futures, integrating sustainability and bio-based innovation into design education.

Key projects include Biolace (2012), exhibited globally, and collaborations like Lab-Grown Fur with Imperial College London and Fendi. Her research bridges art, science, and design, with exhibitions at the Pompidou Centre and Biotopia Museum. Grants include the Living Architecture Partnership (SSHRC) and Resilients (European Culture Programme). Collet’s teaching spans over 15 years, advising PhD candidates on topics like regenerative frameworks, microbial textiles, and bio-inspired circular systems. She is a frequent keynote speaker on biodesign and a proponent of 'disobedient' curricula that challenge conventional design paradigms.
