Carol Nemeroff is a Professor and current Dean at the School of Leadership Studies, University of New Brunswick. She holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and has spent her career in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of cognitive psychology, health psychology, and anthropology. Prior roles include Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Southern Maine, Chair of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) there, and 16 years as core faculty at Arizona State University, where she directed the ASU Clinical Psychology Center and Mind-Body Health Lab. She is a licensed psychologist in Arizona.
Her research spans four decades, focusing on magical contagion beliefs and their impact on behavioral responses in domains like HIV prevention, cold/flu risk perception, and public attitudes toward recycled water. Recently, she has explored innovative ethics training methods to enhance real-world ethical resilience, addressing cognitive shortcuts and emotional biases under stress. She emphasizes culturally aware decision-making and interdisciplinary collaboration.
At UNB, she aims to lead the RC community into its next phase, fostering engagement through her leadership roles in academic administration and research.
