Heather Sears is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of New Brunswick (UNB). Her research focuses on adolescent development, particularly help-seeking behavior and its socialization by parents, siblings, and peers. She examines how gender and relational characteristics influence help-seeking intentions, and explores family dynamics during normative events (e.g., sexual health discussions) and non-normative events (e.g., parental cancer).
