Carol Lin

Dr. Carol Lin is a Clinical Assistant Professor at SUNY College of Optometry, where she is also a PhD Candidate. She completed her OD and MS at SUNY in 2020 and the Combined Residency/PhD program in 2022, with a residency focus on primary care, ocular disease, and myopia control.

Dr. Lin's research investigates how myopia alters the retinal neurovascular unit and increases glaucoma susceptibility. Her work employs experimental models to study structural and functional changes in retinal ganglion cells, astrocytes, capillaries, and glial cells, with a focus on myopia-induced reorganization of retinal layers and vasculature.

Her recent publications explore experimental myopia progression, retinal neurovascular coupling, and age interactions in ocular degeneration. Key methodologies involve sustained defocus models, choroidal morphology analysis, and gap junction blockade in nonhuman primates.
