Carol Cunningham-Sigman

Carol Cunningham-Sigman is a Professor of Dance at Purdue University's Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance. Joining the faculty in 1983, she served as Division of Dance Chair from 1991 to 2015. Her focus includes dance creation, performance production, and choreography integrated with technology.

• Education: Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Dance from the University of Illinois

Her research bridges dance and technology, particularly in real-time interactive motion capture and telematic performances. Notable projects include Labcoats on Clouds at the Prague Quadrennial and SIGGRAPH conference presentations. She has pioneered collaborations between dancers, technologists, and artists to redefine performance boundaries.

Carol's work has earned her Purdue University's highest undergraduate teaching honor (2015). Her choreography has been showcased at prestigious venues like the Kennedy Center, National Museum of Women in the Arts, and international festivals in Lisbon and Almada. Her teaching spans modern dance, ballet, choreography, and dance appreciation for Purdue's Study Abroad Program at Oxford University.
