Carmen Maret is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Aquinas College and Grand Rapids Community College in west Michigan, teaching flute, music theory, music history, popular music, and music business. She holds two Master of Music degrees and maintains an active career as a flutist, composer, and entrepreneur through her internationally recognized Folias Duo collaboration.
Research and Professional Focus:
- Performance and composition of classical, world, and improvised music
- Argentine tango adaptation for flute/guitar and dance-music integration
- Music entrepreneurship through self-publishing, podcasting, and digital content
Creative Outputs: Produced 5 CDs of original music with Folias Duo, performed across 12+ countries, and developed musicality workshops bridging dancers and musicians. Co-founded Folias Music for sheet music publishing, podcast hosting, and global cultural documentation.
