Carmel Hobbs is a Senior Lecturer in Education (Trauma Informed Pedagogy) at the University of Tasmania's School of Education and Director of the Trauma-Informed Practice Lab. She maintains an Adjunct Lecturer position at La Trobe University and coordinates units in Victoria University's Master of Public Health program. Her research focuses on youth intimate partner violence, trauma, marginalization, and children's rights within a social justice framework.
Her research interests span trauma-informed pedagogy, youth relationships, student engagement in alternative education settings, and qualitative methodologies prioritizing children's voices. She employs mixed-methods approaches to understand how young people experience violence and trauma within educational contexts.
Her publications demonstrate a consistent focus on youth welfare, educational strategies for marginalized learners, and trauma-responsive practices.
