Patricia Kostouros is a Full Professor in the Department of Child Studies and Social Work at Mount Royal University. She is a Registered Psychologist (RPsych) with a PhD in Psychology from the University of Calgary and holds advanced degrees in Social Work from the University of Victoria. Dr. Kostouros bridges academia with frontline practice through her extensive experience in trauma-informed care, child and youth mental health, and wellness advocacy.

Her research focuses on Intimate Partner Violence, Student Wellness, Compassion Fatigue, and Trauma-Informed Teaching. She has pioneered trauma-sensitive pedagogy frameworks, particularly for English as an Additional Language (EAL) educators, and advocates for decolonizing assessment practices through labor-based grading. Her publications emphasize ethical imperatives in post-secondary wellness and supervision tools for compassion fatigue mitigation.
Dr. Kostouros' recent work trends include intersections of Education, Psychology, and Social Work, with specific sub-fields in Trauma-Informed Pedagogy, Gender-Based Violence Prevention, and Disaster Preparedness. She has presented nationally and internationally on topics ranging from vicarious trauma to decolonized grading systems.
