Kelsey Reed is an Associate Professor in the Department of Child and Youth Care at MacEwan University and a member of the Indigenous Research Group. She belongs to the Beardy's and Okemasis Cree Nation. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Indigenous Peoples Education (in progress), an M.Ed. from the University of Alberta (2016), and a Bachelor's degree from MacEwan University's Child and Youth Care program.
Her research focuses on urban Aboriginal identity, child welfare policies, social activism, and decolonization in educational and care contexts. She actively engages in decolonizing pedagogy and methodologies within child and youth care frameworks.

Dr. Reed has presented at national and international conferences, advocating for Indigenous perspectives in education and child welfare. Her awards include the Indigenous Graduate Award (2015–2018), Graduate Student Award (2015), and Shauna Seneca Award (2013).
Her work emphasizes ethical care practices, policy reform, and terminology shifts to advance equity. She is certified as a Child and Youth Care Worker and affiliated with the Child and Youth Care Association of Alberta.
Dr. Reed contributes to the Indigenous Research Group, focusing on integrating Indigenous knowledge systems into academic and care environments.
