Carlos Zanuy Sanchez

Carlos Zanuy Sanchez is a Professor in the Department of Continuum Mechanics and Structural Theory at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, currently serving as Deputy Director of the Department (since September 2024) and Principal Investigator for the Structural Engineering Group. He is also a member of the R&D+i Center for Smart and Sustainable Civil Infrastructure (CIVILis) since November 2024.

His research focuses on structural mechanics, structural concrete, fatigue, and impact phenomena within civil engineering. These areas address critical challenges in building construction, infrastructure resilience, and material performance under dynamic loads, with strong connections to materials science and sustainable construction technologies.

Dr. Zanuy Sanchez leads research within the Structural Engineering Group, which investigates advanced structural analysis methodologies and innovative construction techniques. His work through CIVILis contributes to developing smart infrastructure solutions that integrate sustainability principles with structural performance requirements.
