Jose Ramon Sanchez Lavin

Jose Ramon Sanchez Lavin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering: Construction, Infrastructure and Transportation at the School of Civil Engineering, Polytechnic University of Madrid. He currently serves as the Director of the Department and is a member of the Research group Materials Technology and Environment and the R&D+i Center for Smart and Sustainable Civil Infrastructure (CIVILis).

His educational background includes:

• Civil Engineering degree (Ingeniero de Caminos, Canales y Puertos) from Polytechnic University of Madrid (with average grade 6.23)
• Doctorate (Cum laude) from Polytechnic University of Madrid
• Executive MBA from the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry (2003)

Dr. Sanchez Lavin's research focuses on Civil Engineering, particularly in Construction Engineering, Infrastructure Sustainability, Construction Risk Management, Ground Improvement, and Construction Process Control. His work has led to four peer-reviewed articles (three in JCR-indexed journals), two books, and a book chapter.

He has supervised multiple master's and bachelor's theses and served on doctoral and master's thesis committees. In research, he has participated as a collaborator in 16 projects (13 national, 2 European, 5 public, 10 private) and led one private European project. He also holds two patents in tunnel monitoring and pile driving verification.

He is a member of the Research group Materials Technology and Environment and the R&D+i Center for Smart and Sustainable Civil Infrastructure (CIVILis) at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
