Carlos Juiz García

Dr. Carlos Juiz García is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Architecture and Technology within the School of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). He holds multiple leadership positions including heading the ACSIC research group and serving as Subdirector of the Laboratory of Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation at UIB.

Dr. Juiz received his PhD in Informatics from UIB and a postgraduate degree in Office Automation Management from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Before academia, he worked as a Systems Analyst at Xerox from 1990-1999, rising to Senior Analyst. He has held visiting positions at the University of Vienna (2003) and Stanford University (2011).

His research focuses on performance engineering, Green IT, and IT governance, with additional expertise in cloud computing, resource management for distributed systems, and computer architecture. He has been involved in over 50 research projects across regional, national, European, and international levels, with collaborations spanning universities in Paraguay, Colombia, Albania, Tunisia, Morocco, and Ecuador.

Dr. Juiz has participated in over 600 international conferences as reviewer, session chair, and program committee member, and is author of more than 250 international papers plus two university textbooks. He has given approximately 50 international seminars and been invited to speak at prestigious universities worldwide.

Throughout his career, Dr. Juiz has held significant administrative roles at UIB including Sub-director of the Polytechnic School (2004-2005), Director of the Office of Planning and Prospective (2005-2007), President's Delegate of New Technologies (2007-2011), Vice-rector for Information Technologies (2011-2013), and Director of the Chair of Telefónica at UIB (2012-2014). He currently serves as executive vice-president at the TURISTEC cluster and board member of Balears.T cluster. He has supervised 9 doctoral theses and numerous master's and undergraduate theses.
