Carlo Bottone is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Philosophy & Classics at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), affiliated with the College of Liberal and Fine Arts. Born in Milan, Italy, he joined UTSA in 2022 after teaching roles at Lehman College, the University of Memphis, and George Mason University.
Education:
- B.A. and M.A. in Classics from Università degli Studi di Milano
- M.A. and Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the City University of New York
His research centers on ancient didactic poetry, particularly Lucretius' De Rerum Natura, and its early modern reception. He investigates connections between classical and early modern atomic theories, the work of seventeenth-century Tuscan experimenters, Galileo, and the Accademia del Cimento, bridging Classical philology and the history of science.
