Carla Van Devander is an Assistant Professor in Education at Mary Baldwin University and serves as Director of the Program for the Exceptionally Gifted (PEG). She also coordinates the Education Leaders Living Learning Community. Her educational background includes a bachelor's degree in history from George Mason University, a teaching endorsement from Mary Baldwin University, and an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on at-risk populations from Eastern Mennonite University.
Her research focuses on:
- Developing educational frameworks for gifted and exceptional learners
- Curriculum design for at-risk student populations
- Differentiated instructional strategies across K-12 levels
- Teacher training and assessment methodologies
- Educational leadership development
She actively advises students pursuing secondary education endorsements, supervises student teachers, and partners with regional schools to implement differentiated learning frameworks.
She leads the Program for the Exceptionally Gifted, creating supportive environments for advanced learners, and coordinates the Education Leaders Living Learning Community to develop future education professionals.
