Carla M. Koehler

Carla M. Koehler is a Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), with affiliations to the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (BMB) Program, UCLA-Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, Molecular Biology Institute, Brain Research Institute, and UCLA ACCESS Program. Her research focuses on mitochondrial biogenesis and protein import mechanisms, bridging fundamental cell biology with disease pathogenesis.

Research Interests: The Koehler lab investigates mitochondrial protein translocation pathways, including the conserved TOM/TIM complexes, and their role in diseases like Mohr-Tranebjaerg syndrome. Key areas include mitochondrial dysfunction in neurodegenerative disorders, aging, and metabolic regulation.
