Carl Blobel is Professor of Medicine and Physiology, Biophysics and Systems Biology at Weill Cornell Medical College and Chairman of the Arthritis and Tissue Degeneration Program at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He received his MD from Justus-Liebig University, Germany, and PhD in Biochemistry from the University of California, San Francisco. His research focuses on ADAM metalloproteinases, particularly ADAM17, and their role in EGFR and TNFα signaling, with implications in cancer and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
