Carl Baum, MD is a Professor of Pediatrics (Emergency Medicine) and Emergency Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. He serves as attending physician in the Pediatric Emergency Department and Director of the Connecticut Lead Poisoning and Regional Treatment Center. His roles include leadership in disaster medicine as member of the National Biodefense Science Board and Executive Committee of the AAP Council on Children and Disasters.

Research focuses on medical toxicology, pediatric environmental health, disaster preparedness, and lead poisoning treatment. Over 50 peer-reviewed publications address pediatric emergencies, environmental hazards, and disaster medicine. Recent work examines agitation management, contraceptive complications, and rare earth magnet injuries.
