Dr. Asim Tarabar is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, serving as Director of Medical Toxicology and Quality Improvement Director for Yale New Haven Hospital's Emergency Department. He completed his MD at Sarajevo Medical School (1992), an MS in Emergency Health Services from the University of Maryland (1999), residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, and a medical toxicology fellowship at New York University. His clinical expertise focuses on poisoning, substance abuse, and toxicological emergencies. Research interests include substance abuse prevention and healthcare equity in emergency settings. He contributes to Goldfrank’s Toxicologic Emergencies and leads Yale’s Medical Toxicology Consult Service. Nationally, he chairs the American College of Medical Toxicology’s Education and Practice Committees. His recent work analyzes physician performance metrics and patient placement inequities in emergency departments.
