Carie King serves as Department Chair and Associate Professor of English at Taylor University's English & Modern Languages Department. She holds a PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from Ball State University, an MEd in English Education from the University of Georgia, and a BA in English from the University of Georgia. Her research focuses on composition and rhetoric, English education, and American literature, emphasizing whole-person development in academia. Recent work includes studies on interdisciplinary collaboration in science education and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in faculty development.

Her 2020 article in the Journal of Chemical Education explores how scientific literature fosters student identification with scientific discourse communities. Awards include the Burnworth Teaching Award (2021) from Taylor University. She directs WORDshop!, a Taylor University Writing Camp, and facilitates the Indiana Writing Project Summer Institute. Her community engagement extends beyond academia, with active involvement in campus life through family activities and campus walks with her dog, Maggie.
