معرفی
Camille Hamidi is a Professor of Political Science at Lyon II Lumière University and an Associate Researcher at the Center for European Studies and Comparative Politics (CEE) at Sciences Po. She is also affiliated with the Triangle laboratory (UMR 5206 CNRS) and held a CNRS delegation at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, Harvard, for 2023–2024. Her research is centered at the intersection of civil society, political engagement, ethnicity, and public policy.
Her academic work focuses on three main areas: the relationship between associations and public action, issues of ethnicity and immigration, and ordinary forms of political engagement, especially among marginalized communities. She completed her HDR (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches) in 2021 at the University of Amiens, titled The color of political judgment. The effects of ethnicity on ordinary relationships with politics. Contributions of a reanalysis.
Her recent publications reflect a strong engagement with themes such as the commodification of the associative sector, multi-level methodological analysis, migration policy implementation, and the political representation of minorities. She has co-edited special issues and books on plural political behaviors, migration policies, and civil society in urban neighborhoods.
The trends in her research output show a consistent focus on the everyday politics of marginalized groups, the transformation of civil society under neoliberal pressures, and comparative studies—particularly between France and the United States. Her methodological rigor is evident in her contributions to qualitative reanalysis and multi-level research design.
She has taught extensively at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including courses on political sociology, collective mobilizations, immigration, and public policy. She has also lectured at international institutions such as the University of Lausanne, the University of Montreal, and the Institute of Political Studies of Lyon.
