Dr. Camille Alexis-Garsee is an Associate Professor of Health Psychology at Middlesex University within the Faculty of Science and Technology's Department of Psychology. A Chartered Psychologist and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, she holds a BSc in Mathematics and Psychology, MSc in Psychological Approaches to Health, and PhD in Health Psychology.
Her research examines behaviour change interventions, chronic illness experiences (including Long-Covid in children), smoking/vaping cessation, and public health service evaluations using mixed methods and randomized controlled trials. Current projects include NIHR-funded drug education programmes and Long-Covid impact studies.
Publication analysis reveals consistent focus on health behavior modification, immigrant health access, and culturally adapted interventions across 15+ peer-reviewed articles. Recurring themes include smoking cessation barriers, cross-cultural healthcare access, and tailored behavioral interventions.
Supervision includes 3 doctoral candidates and over 50 MSc dissertations. Current PhD advisees research alcohol dependence and work-life balance in non-traditional families. Major grants include £490k from NIHR for school-based drug education evaluation (2024-2025) and £150k for physical activity service assessments.
