Dr Cameron Baines is a postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Biosciences, University of Birmingham, working under Professor Helen Cooper’s research group. His research integrates native mass spectrometry and mass spectrometry imaging to study protein dynamics in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and bacterial systems.

His expertise spans structural mass spectrometry, protein conformational dynamics, and neurodegenerative disease mechanisms. Recent publications focus on antibiotic interactions with bacterial proteins and ALS-related protein misfolding. He employs techniques like covalent protein labeling, ion-mobility spectrometry, and native ambient mass spectrometry (NAMS) imaging to advance these fields.
