Jeremy Lum

Jeremy Lum is a Research Fellow at the School of Medicine, Indigenous and Health Sciences at the University of Wollongong, Australia. His research focuses on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), with a focus on protein misfolding, drug delivery systems, and mass spectrometry imaging. He holds a Bill Gole Postdoctoral Research Fellowship and previously served as an Associate Research Fellow in the School of Chemistry and Molecular Bioscience.

His work spans translational research, including developing therapies targeting misfolded SOD1 proteins and lipid nanoparticle-based drug delivery. He has secured multiple grants, including funding from Motor Neurone Disease Research Institute Australia and FightMND. Lum supervises PhD candidates exploring ALS pathogenesis, mass spectrometry techniques, and protein aggregation mechanisms.

His research outputs emphasize innovative methodologies such as MALDI-2 mass spectrometry for single-cell metabolite analysis and zymography for SOD1 variant characterization.
