Callie K. DeBellis is a Teaching Professor of Spanish and Director of Meredith in Italy at Meredith College. She specializes in intercultural competence development and international education, with a focus on community-based learning. Her career includes creating Meredith's first study abroad program in Costa Rica and leading programs in Italy. She holds an MA in Hispanic Literatures from UNC-Chapel Hill and a BA in English Literature from Colorado College.
Her research and presentations emphasize intercultural competence assessment and global education. Notable contributions include organizing the 2023 Global Symposium on Assessment of Intercultural Competence and co-presenting at conferences such as the Association of Academic Programs in Latin America and the Caribbean. She has received awards like the Laura Harrill Presidential Award (2024) and the Pauline Davis Award for Excellence in Teaching (2013).
