Jean Jackson is a Professor of English and Vice President for College Programs at Meredith College. With a career spanning over four decades, she has taught courses in composition, British and American literature, African-American literature, women’s studies, and English Romantic poetry while balancing administrative duties overseeing strategic planning and budgeting for key campus offices.

- Ph.D. in English, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
- M.A. in English, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
- B.A. in English and Religion (Magna cum Laude), Meredith College
Her research interests focus on literary studies, particularly African-American literature and Romantic poetry, alongside interdisciplinary work in women’s studies and professional communications. As an administrator, she manages Career Planning, Athletics, Campus Police, Counseling Center, and other student life departments.
Jackson has received numerous awards, including the Pauline Davis Perry FAME Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Laura Harrill Presidential Award, and has been inducted into the Greater Triangle YWCA Academy of Women and the North Carolina 4-H Hall of Fame. She has also secured multiple international and domestic travel grants for research and academic presentations.
