Cal Christian is a Professor in the Department of Accounting at the College of Business, East Carolina University. He teaches International Accounting and Accounting for Decision Makers and serves as the NCAA Faculty Athletic Representative, a Chancellor-appointed role overseeing academic aspects of student-athletes. He is also a faculty senator and member of the University Athletic Committee.
His educational background includes a BAccy from the University of Mississippi and a PhD from Florida State University. He is a licensed CPA in North Carolina and Mississippi with over 10 years of professional experience in public accounting (Ernst & Whinney) and industry (LDDS/WorldCom, Holcomb Dunbar law firm).
Cal Christian's research focuses on financial accounting, particularly the relationship between accounting standards and capital markets, as well as ethical behavior within the accounting profession. He is actively involved in professional development, teaching continuing education for NCACPA, AICPA, and major corporations including AIG, Credit Suisse, The Hearst Corp., and Lowe’s Corporation.
He has been recognized with several honors, including the UNC Board of Governors’ Outstanding Teaching Award in 2007 and the NCACPA Outstanding Chapter Speaker award. He currently serves on the NCACPA Board of Directors for a three-year term and has previously served as President of the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville, NC.

Cal Christian advises on academic integrity in athletics and contributes to university governance through faculty senate and athletic committees.
