Dr. Caitlin Burrell is a faculty pathologist and research scientist at the University of Georgia (UGA), affiliated with the UGA Zoo and Exotic Animal Pathology Service (ZEAPS) and the Infectious Diseases Laboratory within the College of Veterinary Medicine. Her roles include providing diagnostic support for veterinarians working with nondomestic species. Previously, she served as a wildlife pathologist with UGA's Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study, focusing on disease surveillance and diagnostic investigations for wildlife agencies.

Research Interests
Dr. Burrell specializes in diagnostic pathology of zoo and wildlife species, with expertise in aquatic animal pathology, avian pathology, wildlife diseases, and conservation medicine. Her work bridges clinical practice and research, addressing diseases in exotic species such as giant pandas, red pandas, and amphibians.
Teaching
She teaches courses including VPAT 8000 Pathology Rounds and VPAT 8005 Gross Pathology Rounds at UGA.
Service
Active in service roles through the Infectious Diseases Laboratory and ZEAPS, Dr. Burrell collaborates with agencies on wildlife disease investigations and diagnostic support for zoos and aquaria.
