Prof. C.C. Aerts is a Professor of Astrophysics at Radboud University, holding an endowed chair in Asteroseismology. Her research focuses on analyzing star oscillations to probe stellar interiors, analogous to terrestrial seismology, with critical applications for understanding stellar evolution and lifecycle mapping.
Her research interests include:
- Asteroseismology (core methodology)
- Stellar structure and dynamics
- Physics of star oscillations
- Evolutionary astrophysics
Prof. Aerts supervises Master's theses and traineeships in Physics and Astronomy for the 2024-2026 academic cycles. She maintains active research in asteroseismology, a field developed over the past fifteen years from solar seismology foundations.
