Céline Borello is Professor of Modern History at the University of Le Mans and a member of CERHIO (CNRS). Since September 2018, she has served as co-director of the IPRA following Professor Dominique Avon's appointment to the École Pratique des Hautes Études. Her expertise centers on early modern European religious and political history with emphasis on Protestant communities.
Her academic background includes studies at the Institute of Political Studies of Aix-en-Provence.
Research focuses on Protestant theological and political discourses (17th-19th centuries), inter-Christian relations, and identity formation. Key investigations examine public speech in Protestant communities, republicanism within religious contexts, and the evolution of religious belonging from the early modern period through contemporary eras.
Borello directs significant scholarly works including edited volumes on European Protestantism and identity studies, contributing to interdisciplinary understanding of religious-political dynamics.
She maintains active research affiliations through CERHIO (Centre d'Études et de Recherches Historiques de l'Ouest, FRE 2004 CNRS) and leadership in the IPRA (Institut de Recherche sur les Archives et les Politiques de Conservation des Documents).
