Bálint Tóth is a Professor in the School of Mathematics at the University of Bristol since 2012 and a Professor at the Institute of Mathematics of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics since 1998. He also holds a part-time external membership at the Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 2013. His research focuses on probability theory and stochastic processes.
Research Interests: Dr. Tóth’s work spans stochastic processes and probability theory, with emphasis on random walks, interacting particle systems, fluctuations, and scaling limits. His contributions to statistical physics (classical and quantum) and randomness in spatial-temporal systems are widely recognized.

Leadership and Roles: Dr. Tóth served as Head of the Department of Stochastics at TU Budapest for 14 years (1998–2012), Director of its Institute of Mathematics (2005–2009), and Head of the Graduate School of Mathematics and Computer Science (2009–2012). He has been an external part-time member of the Alfréd Rényi Institute since 2013.
