Bruno Stankoff is a Professor of Neurology at Sorbonne University and a neurologist at AP-HP. He serves as Head of the Multiple Sclerosis Center at Saint-Antoine Hospital in Paris and co-leader of the research team "Mechanisms of Myelination and Remyelination in the Central Nervous System" at the Brain Institute. He additionally leads the REGAIN-MS team focused on translating biological insights into clinical applications for demyelinating pathologies.
His academic training includes an MD and PhD from Inserm at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, where he investigated molecular and pharmacological mechanisms of myelin formation, and a postdoctoral fellowship at CEA specializing in PET-based molecular imaging.
Dr. Stankoff's research centers on developing molecular imaging tools to study microglial activity, remyelination processes, neurodegeneration, and neuroinflammation in multiple sclerosis. His work bridges fundamental neurobiology with clinical neurology through the REGAIN-MS initiative, aiming to identify therapeutic targets for remyelination therapies and improve MS patient outcomes via advanced imaging biomarkers.
He directs the Multiple Sclerosis Clinic at Saint-Antoine Hospital while co-leading the REGAIN-MS research consortium at the Brain Institute, which integrates experimental models with clinical studies to advance repair mechanisms in demyelinating diseases.
