Professor Bruce Griffin is a Professor of Nutritional Metabolism at the University of Surrey, affiliated with the School of Biosciences under the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. He holds a BSc (Hons) from Portsmouth Polytechnic and a PhD from the University of Aberdeen, followed by postdoctoral research at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
His research focuses on the impact of diet and lifestyle on cardiovascular diseases, lipid metabolism, and metabolic disorders. Key interests include dietary macronutrients' effects on cardio-metabolic risk factors, obesity, and type-2 diabetes. He contributed to the University's Queen’s Anniversary Prize 2017-18 for research excellence in food and nutrition.
Teaching includes undergraduate programs in Food Science and Nutrition, Nutrition BSc, and Nutrition and Dietetics. He supervises PhD students in Biosciences and Medicine. His publications span lipidology, selenium supplementation effects, and insulin resistance mechanisms.
