معرفی
Bruce D. Murphy is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Biomedicine, University of Montreal. His research focuses on reproductive physiology, endocrinology, and molecular mechanisms in ovarian and placental development.
- Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology (1973), University of Saskatchewan
- M.Sc. in Physiology (1969), Colorado State University
- B.Sc. in Biology (1965), Colorado State University
His research areas include intracellular cholesterol dynamics in ovarian cells, luteinization and steroidogenesis regulation, embryo-uterine interactions in delayed implantation species, nutrition-reproduction links, and gene expression in early gestation. He uses carnivore diapause models to study embryo-uterine interfaces.
His recent publications analyze nuclear receptors (Nr5a2, LRH-1) in steroidogenesis and ovulation, chromatin mapping in ovarian cells, and molecular anomalies in cloned cattle. Keywords span reproductive biology, molecular genetics, and veterinary medicine.
Grants include major projects funded by CIHR, NSERC, and Quebec Research Funds (2009–2024) on topics like ovarian reserve regulation, orphan nuclear receptors, delayed implantation, and perinatal research training.
He supervises numerous Ph.D. and M.Sc. students, including Olivia Smith, Kalyne Bertolin, and Marie-Charlotte Meinsohn. Collaborations span Quebec Reproduction Network and international institutions.
