Bruce Appleyard

Dr. Bruce Appleyard is a Professor at the School of Public Affairs within the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts at San Diego State University (SDSU). He serves as Director of the Action Institute for Sustainability, Livability, and Equity (AISLE) and leads research on Active Transportation. His work focuses on urban planning, transportation equity, and livable street design, emphasizing the intersection of policy, safety, and community well-being.

Research interests include pedestrian and bicycle safety, sustainable urban design, transit-oriented development, and the impact of transportation policies on marginalized communities. He explores innovative frameworks for integrating land use and mobility to enhance equity and environmental sustainability.
