Brooke Richardson

Brooke Richardson is an Assistant Professor in Child and Youth Study at Mount Saint Vincent University and a Research Associate with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. She holds a Ph.D. in Policy Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University with expertise in childcare policy and feminist ethics of care.

Her research critically examines child welfare systems, gendered care labor, and motherhood within child protection contexts. Richardson advocates for reimagining care systems through feminist frameworks and amplifying marginalized voices in policy development.

Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on childcare policy analysis, educator well-being, and decommodification of care work, with recent works examining pandemic policy responses and onto-epistemological justice in education.

Richardson actively contributes to academic communities as past President of the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario (2018-2022) and through leadership roles in child welfare advocacy collectives including the Child Welfare Truth Telling Collective.
