Bronwyn Newman

Dr Bronwyn Newman is a Research Fellow at Macquarie University's Australian Institute of Health Innovation, specializing in health systems and safety research. Her work focuses on improving health information access for marginalized groups, particularly those with intellectual disabilities and culturally diverse backgrounds. She holds a PhD from UNSW Sydney on easy-read mental health information for intellectually disabled populations.

Education: PhD in Social Policy (UNSW Sydney, 2020), Master of Policy and Social Research (Macquarie University, 2016), Bachelor of Social Work (University of Sydney).

Research interests include inclusive health communication, patient-reported experience measures, and equitable healthcare delivery. She has contributed to projects like the Listen to Me initiative and co-created cancer care protocols for diverse populations.

Her recent work addresses patient safety in cancer services and caregiver support systems. Awards include the 2023 NSW Premier's Cancer Research Award and the Kelaher Best PhD Paper Award.
