Dr Ashfaq Chauhan is a Research Fellow and co-ordinator of the Healthcare Engagement and Equity Research stream at Macquarie University's Australian Institute of Health Innovation. He holds a PhD in Health Services Research (2023) and has over a decade of clinical experience as a physiotherapist, complemented by masters in Health Management and International Public Health from UNSW Sydney. His work focuses on equity in healthcare, particularly improving patient safety and outcomes for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities through co-design interventions. He leads projects funded by the Australian Government and collaborates with national health systems, consumers, and agencies.

He is a sessional academic at UNSW Sydney, a Patient Safety Movement Foundation Fellow, and a member of Health Expectations journal's Editorial Board.
Grants and Projects: Currently leading three major initiatives, including an equity-focused evaluation of patient registration systems and a study on the impact of statutory duty of candour legislation. His work emphasizes multilingual collaboration and has produced tools like the Audit for Consumer Engagement (ACE) and Care My Way resources.
