Brighid Lowe is a Professor at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, where she teaches Fine Art across undergraduate programs and has worked in both full-time and part-time capacities. She has taught in both Sculpture and Media areas and has supervised graduate students including one doctoral researcher to completion. Previously, she served as Head of Undergraduate Sculpture, Co-Director of Undergraduate Studies, and Undergraduate Admissions Tutor at the Slade.
Her artistic practice spans multiple media including text, sculpture, collage, drawing, and film. Her research centers on archival practices, using historical archives as primary visual resources and applying cinematic logic to material culture. She co-directs the Slade Film Department research project (founded 2011), which examines film's recognition as an art-form within British cultural history. Her recent film 'Together with Lorenza Mazzetti' (2023) is distributed by the British Film Institute.
Lowe's solo exhibitions include 'Destiny Bomb' (Coleman Projects, London, 2018) and Jerwood Artists' Platform (London, 2004). Her group exhibitions span prestigious venues including Tate Britain's inaugural Triennial 'Intelligence' (2000), Baltic 39 (Newcastle, 2012), and Kunstmuseum Olten (Switzerland, 2015). Her work often explores themes of loss, betrayal, and the relationship between virtual and physical spaces through innovative material interventions.

Lowe has supervised doctoral researchers and led significant collaborative projects including 'Parts and Labour' which examines material conditions of art production and authorship hierarchies. She maintains an active writing practice with contributions to artist fiction anthologies and critical art publications.
