Brian Boigon is an Associate Professor at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at the University of Toronto, where he runs the Inner Outer Space Lab and sits on the Toronto MOCA board. His work bridges art, architecture, and technology, focusing on interdisciplinary projects like The Interopera and Nonlinear Urbanism. Boigon’s practice spans installations, digital media, and theoretical writing, exploring themes such as quantum mechanics, urban futurism, and computational scripting.
Education: B.Arch from the University of Toronto (1976-1980) and studies at Ontario College of Art (1973-1976).
Research interests include nonlinear systems, sci-fi narratives, and the intersection of art/architecture with technology. Recent projects include The Magic of Membranes (2021) and the 2023 Stag series of 3D-printed sculptures. His works are in collections like the Canadian Centre for Architecture and have been exhibited globally, including at the Art Gallery of Ontario and Kunstverein Stuttgart.
Publications include a digital/analogue book on Nonlinear Urbanism (Birkhäuser, 2017) and contributions to The Interopera project. Current work explores sound/video projects and the Interopera art book/reader.
