Brent Mainprize is a Teaching Professor at the Gustavson School of Business, University of Victoria, with expertise in entrepreneurship and Indigenous economic prosperity. His research focuses on community-engaged scholarship that has achieved international recognition for its societal impact. As an engaged scholar, he developed the Venture Intelligence Quotient (VIQ) framework adopted globally. Over two decades, he has co-created programs like I-ACE that have graduated 714 Indigenous entrepreneurs.
His research examines entrepreneurial business models, social entrepreneurship, and Indigenous economic development, with emphasis on integrating traditional knowledge systems into modern economic frameworks. Recent publications explore Indigenous economic justice and procurement policies, reflecting a consistent focus on decolonizing economic systems.
Brent has received numerous awards including the 3M National Teaching Fellowship and EFMD Gold Medal for program excellence. His community programs have generated significant funding ($3.2M for the Indigenous 3C Challenge) and policy impacts across British Columbia.
