Brendan Smith is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Loyola Marymount University's Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering. He joined LMU in 2017, focusing on empowering students through engineering solutions for complex health challenges. His research emphasizes assistive technology and neuro-rehabilitation, particularly stroke recovery.

Research Interests:
Dr. Smith directs the REACT Lab, developing devices like the Resonating Arm Exerciser (RAE) for post-stroke arm rehabilitation and repurposing robotic driving simulators to assess cognitive/motor skills for stroke/TBI survivors. His work bridges engineering design with human-centric problem solving.
