Dr. Brenda O'Neill is Professor in the Department of Political Science and Dean of the Faculty of Public and Global Affairs at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. A leading scholar of Canadian political behaviour and gender politics, she has held prior faculty and leadership roles at the University of Calgary, the University of Manitoba, the University of Alberta, the University of Lethbridge and Red Deer College.

Her research interrogates intersections of political behaviour and gender, focusing on Canada. Recent projects address gender and party leadership and the influence of feminist identification on support for sovereignty among women in Québec. She has secured multiple SSHRC grants to fund this work and served as English-language editor of the Canadian Journal of Political Science between 2017 and 2020.
