Brenda Elias

Dr. Brenda Elias is Professor in Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba's Max Rady College of Medicine, with adjunct appointments at Simon Fraser University. She directs the 'Translating to the Community' study developing FASD biomarkers and leads SSHRC-funded dignity promotion initiatives.

Her research examines:

• Social epigenetic mechanisms in FASD
• Indigenous health measurement methodologies
• Health rights advocacy

She co-founded the Manitoba First Nations Centre for Aboriginal Health Research and directs the Bold Ideas Colloquium. Current projects include the Wuniska Indigenous Centre on health inequities and community-based FASD diagnosis tools.
