Dr. Branka Petković is a Principal Research Fellow and Head of the Department of Neurophysiology at the Institute for Biological Research (IBISS) within the University of Belgrade. She earned her Ph.D., M.Sc., and B.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Physiology from the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade.
- Education:
- Ph.D. (2007), Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade
- M.Sc. (2003), Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade
- B.Sc. (2000), Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade
Her research focuses on the effects of pharmacological substances and environmental factors, particularly magnetic fields, on the central nervous system and behavior of experimental animals. She investigates these effects in both physiological and pathophysiological conditions, emphasizing evolutionarily distant species.
Dr. Petković leads significant projects such as The effects of magnetic fields and other environmental stressors on physiological responses (OI173027; 2011-2019) and the bilateral project MAGNETDROSOLOCO with France. Her work spans neuroscience, pharmacology, and environmental toxicology.
She has received prestigious awards including the Serbian Biological Society's best Ph.D. dissertation award (2007), the Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection award for successful researchers (2004), and a Ministry of Science and Technology fellowship (2000-2001).
Dr. Petković actively participates in doctoral studies, scientific committees, and peer review for SCI journals and international programs. Her recent publications highlight trends in magnetic field effects, neurotoxicity, and behavioral studies.
