Dr. Srđan Kesić is a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Neurophysiology, Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković" (IBISS), affiliated with the University of Belgrade. He graduated as the top student from the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade (2005) and earned his PhD in Neurobiology (2014) with a thesis on fractal analysis of neuronal activity under magnetic fields and ouabain. He also holds a degree in Philosophy (2010) from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade.
His research focuses on
- Environmental and pharmacological effects on central nervous system function
- Prenatal/postnatal exposure to low-frequency magnetic fields and cognitive/emotional behavior
- Fractal and independent component analysis of neuronal electrophysiology
- Philosophy of biology and complex biological systems
Dr. Kesić has participated in international collaborations, including a short visit to the Institute for Problems of Information Transmission (Russian Academy of Sciences) and lectures at Lomonosov University, Moscow. He is a member of the BioEM Society, FENS, Neuroscience Society of Serbia, Serbian Biological Society, and Biophysical Society of Serbia.
Scientific awards include
- FENS/IBRO scholarship (2008)
He reviews for SCI-listed journals and Chilean grant proposals, and serves as a guest editor for Frontiers in Physiology. His work has been part of institutional research programs in Serbia and international COST actions.
