Brandyn Churchill

Brandyn Churchill serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Administration & Policy at American University. He holds a PhD in Economics from Vanderbilt University (2021), an MA in Economics from San Diego State University (2016), and a BA in Economics from Washington & Lee University (2014).

His research centers on information and cost dynamics in healthcare decision-making, with specialized focus on preventive care utilization. Additional work investigates how public policies and social comparisons influence self-image and weight-related behaviors through behavioral economic frameworks.

Professor Churchill is a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. His research program receives active funding from the National Institutes of Health and has produced publications in premier journals including the Journal of Health Economics, Journal of Human Resources, and Journal of Policy Analysis and Management.
