Brad Hogarth is an Associate Professor of Conducting at San Francisco State University and holds faculty positions at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he conducts the Conservatory Wind Ensemble. He serves as the Associate Conductor of the Monterey Symphony and the Music Director/Conductor of the Art Haus Collective and Peninsula Youth Orchestra. His roles also include conducting the Contra Costa Wind Symphony and collaborating with various orchestras and ensembles across the Bay Area and internationally.
Education:
- Bachelor's in Trumpet Performance and Music Education from the Eastman School of Music
- Semester abroad at Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, Germany
- Master's in Trumpet Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music
Brad’s research and professional interests focus on musical outreach, bridging classical and contemporary music through innovative performances, and music education. He emphasizes collaborative performances in unique venues, such as the Art Haus Collective’s Burning Man event, and fostering community engagement through live music.

In advising, Brad mentors students in conducting and trumpet performance at SFSU and SFCM. His grants include the Marcus award supporting research on 19th-century composer Francis Johnson. He has led educational programs at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts and Gunma Kokusai Academy in Japan.
Brad is affiliated with the Art Haus Collective, Peninsula Youth Orchestra, and the San Francisco Conservatory Wind Ensemble. He collaborates with ensembles like the Monterey Symphony and Bay Brass, emphasizing interdisciplinary and community-focused projects.
